FELIX ANTOINE TSHISEKEDI TSHILOMBO, 5th PRESIDENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, DRC

THE CORONATION.

Polls not only for the presidential elections, but also for the choice of the members both of the National and Provincial Legislative Assemblies. It is worth remembering that this election, although they were postponed of one week from the due date in the official calendar, went well despite the intense frustrations among the population in the aftermath of the proclamation of the polls results.

This triple electoral confrontation which has consecrated a regime change in a cataloged country, a country considered to be a vast field of illogicality and where the democratic culture never had any chance has been described in the public opinion as unexpected. Some observers noted that the most recent polls would have been a remarkable milestone for democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As a matter of fact, the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, has always been a real problem in the concert of the nations, with a still uncertain horizon like a ship pitching in a furious sea with cusseage waters of rage and the wrangling oratory of its leaders striving to clear the polotical arena from the stands of partisan positions and fabricated false accusations aiming to dismiss political opponents of the electoral process. It is a country in ruins with devatated firefighters. It is an avalanche of demagogues and of false witnesses reading their testimonies from false documentation.

It is the supreme imposture of a country that has lost all its bearings in an organized confusion and since the regimes of Kasa-Vubu, Mobutu, Kabila 1 and Kabila 2, teamed with easily identifiable directors whose agendas revealed themselves in the course of time has maintained its citizens homeless and impoverished. There are so many ambiguities that are necessary to raise at any price.

THE RACE FOR THE NOMINATIONS.

For the first time in its history the DR Congo has achieved a significant turning point to a hundred and eighty degrees in its history at the conclusion of its last elections and the handover of power between the outgoing President and the newly elected President in a peaceful and democratic ceremony.

Indeed, the nomination contest has been raging for more than five years in the DRC. Public demonstrations were organised by the opposition, which considered itself bound by political decisions of an ending regime but using repressive methods to stop he opposition fight in favour of elections in compliance with the most basic democratic and international standards. The opposition demanded the full implementation of the measures of political relaxation agreed in the Saint-Sylvestre agreement.

The most important was standing up against all attempts of a possible third mandate of Mr Kabila as head of state beyond the end of his second constitutional term which terminated in December 2016 followed by so many attempts to cling to power by all means, despite sanctions to members of his regime and diplomatic pressure from the international community.

To wash the affront suffered and to avoid this opprobrium inflicted on them in the face by his slayers, Joseph Kabila Kabila took his courage, and, considering that he never had at any time the intention to change the Constitution to allow him stay in power, he had decided not to run for the presidency and to choose a candidate that he should support for the presidency. This was the first act of a democratic requirement that he masqueraded, making himself to masquerade as the great architect of a very rare experience in Africa in favour of the establishment of a democratic regime and the credibility of a rule of law in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He made the commitment that the DRC’s government would finance the a travers elections without the financial support of the international community. This commitment was so visible when Mr Kabila supplied all the necessary means for the transport of electoral material, which included 7 planes, 7 helicopters For the transport of electoral kits, for example, Kabila had made available to the Independent National Electoral Commission, a cart of 7 planes, 7 helicopters, 130 trucks and 195 pick ups, and other gadgets to allow the smooth dispatch of all materials throughout the country.
Therefore, all the credit goes to Mr Kabila for having waited for the happy ending of this process, the purpose to proceed to a peaceful and civilized transfer of power on the 24th of January at a grand ceremony and a unique of its kind in the sub-Saharan Africa for the investiture of a successor.
The former Congolese President showed the world that he had prepared well for this release of power by being himself the great commander of this event. While the public was expecting a reversal of situations that would lead to the flow of blood, as is often the case in many other African countries. Thus, joining the words to the gestures, Kabila will always remain the master of his own destiny which opens wide before him, being notoriously super-practical, has capitalized his abilities and capacities by coordinating himself this task.

This example reminds the Congolese of their duty as a citizen, especially in this crucial surge of electoral transhumance where as compatriots we must be morally and naturally linked in the unity of a common goal and in a disinterested, unconditional and faithful love that unites the sons and daughters of the Congolese nation.

Whatever the slander of his slanderers, the diversionary maneuvers, the pin-bodies of some misguided spirits who have trouble understanding Mr Kabila, and the chores he rightly or wrongly suffers from those who refuse to to see in front of them the reality of the coming to power of the 5th President of the Republic and the start of the new constitutional order, the total recomposition of the institutions of the new Republic and a new start for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In his address to the Congolese nation to announce his departure, Joseph Kabange Kabila affirmed that he spent 18 years of reign and he warmly thanked the Congolese people after accumulating years of experience. He uttered words of honor dedicating the major axes to evaluate his passage as Head of State that he wishes the DRC to remain strong and prosperous, a haven of peace, factor of regional stability and the locomotive of the development of Africa. He concluded his farewell speech with the wish that his congolese citizens remains frank and sincere to this ideal.

THE CORONATION OF MR. ANTOINE FELIX TSHISEKEDI.

The Coronation of Mr. Antoine Felix Tshisekedi, FATSHI, took place on Thursday, 24th January 2019 in the courtyard of the Palace of the Nation, the office of the Presidency of the Republic. Following the speech of the Public Ministry, the Constitutional Court had received the oath of the newly elected president – the fifth president since the country’s accession to independence on 30th June 1960.
Decidedly, this is a historic ceremony to the extent that it marks a peaceful transfer of power between two leaders at the top of the country, the outgoing and the incoming presidents in the presence of a large crowd of congolese and other ghuests, privileged witness who saw how the new President has received from the President of the Constitutional Court the symbols of power.
These symbols represent the Democratic Republic of Congo in its cultural diversity where everyone deserves his place as sons or daughters of this nation, said Mr Tshisekedi Felix who saw a Congo reconciled with itself, gathered and unified in their commitment to the civilities, the awakening of the Congolese hands in a deep love of the country to give the country a better destiny.

The new President, Mr Antoine Felix Tshisekedi, the current occupier of the Palace of the Nation, paid respectively tributes to the former Presidents of the Republic, as well as to the former Prime Minister Patrice Emery Lumumba. He cited the values they incarnated in their lifetime and to Mr. Kabila Kabange, the great architect of the peaceful transition of power. He saluted the patriotic commitment of Mr Martin Fayulu, his brother and challenger in the elections, a real soldier of the people. He did not forget comrade Shadari who came third in the ballot result.

On the list of other tributes were listed the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), as well as the major religious denominations, particularly the Catholic Church, through the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) whose work has contributed to the achievement of this electoral process.

He also gave words of thanks to his associate, Mr Vital Kamerhe for his tireless support in his actions. A performance that owes nothing to chance. It is well to remember that these intimate words were suddenly stopped by a bodily malaise suffered by the new President during his speech.

He regained consciousness after 10 minutes and he proceeded to his desire to devote himself during his mandate of five years to the interests of the Congolese people, wishing in front of the crowd to alleviate them of the poverty to which they have been to. Finally, he received the official honors at the end of this event rich in colours and which has marked the peaceful transfer of power in a tone of nationalism.

In view of this scene one wonders, if after his departure from power, Mr. Kabila did really take the safest course to be relieved? One may wonder if he would try to improve his image vis-à-vis the Congolese who had shown him some dedication? It all depends on the position of Mr. Tshisekedi Felix whose approval came first of all from the poll results of the CENI, the decisions of the Constitutional Court, the International Community, the African Union, Southern African Development Community (SADC), the European Union, etc. They all congratulated the DR Congo for having organized peaceful and transparent elections which have allowed the peaceful transfer of power at the top of the State. Since then, the political context has changed completely. The time is more than ever for the new president, a man with the reputation of a strong hand, to be cautious. Will the new comer do better?

The CENI has been said to be responsible for the mess that surrounded the vote. Mr. Fayulu won the vote (according to the version of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo) in a proportion of 61.5% compared to its competitors. He denounces the electoral dumping and calls a ballot, an electoral coup corroborated by the Constitutional Court who ended up invalidating his appeal and have hurried to publish definitive results despite the express request of the African Union to postpone the famous publication of the final results from the Presidential election last December until the recounting of the votes in the absence of canceling the elections.

And poor Fayulu Martin who is not at his first rebuff and who faces the cautious reluctance of Congolese justice has to bow to the decisions of the Court. He believed to have achieved better scores. This has created serious frustrations and disturbances in his supporters and in the various corners of the country where there is much loss of life, injuries and displaced populations. This feeds today the political arena with speeches placing the two protagonists at the pinnacle of Congolese politics.

Braving this war of suppressions, Felix Tshisekedi Tshilombo is working to manage the affairs of the state, and it is not a fiction. Because fiction can not replace facts. Mr Vital Kamerhere, is already acting as the Director of Cabinet. He has decreed, on the presidential order, that all recruitments and permutation within the institutions and other organs of the Congolese State should be suspended and all liquidations, except the payments of salaries, should be frozen. This is a plan of attack focused on the realism and execution of the emergency program in a new strategy to adopt that already causes in some official circles crying and grinding of teeth.

These decisions already illuminate a new life for the country ruined by unpredictable outflows of funds which serve to enrich the individuals in charge of the state financial affairs. This explains the the big outbreak in both public and private companies and claims of all kinds in Kinshasa.

This is encouraging for new authorities at the top of the state. That of enforcing law reforms and getting ready for major challenges to overcome. His Excellency Mr. Félix Tshisekedi believes to fulfil the dream of his biological father. He has warmed to its flame during his tender youth whith parental osmosis and has just anointed his body of spices of victory. This is now his season because God has asked him to play the spiritual role, not like the ungrateful role formerly played by his late partner. This is coronation thus coming from the unfathomable will of God, the Almighty.

EDITOR’S NOTE:

Our deep and sincere congratulations to the new elect and Head of State of the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as to the Members of his Cabinet, in particular, his Director of Cabinet, the irremovable Vital Kamerhe and others.
